Car history:
Complete frame off restored 1968 Corvette 390HP/427 4 speed convertible. Born
July 12 1968 this beautiful car now has 51,245 miles. 862 miles since restored.
This car is painted the original Polar White Code 972 in base coat clear coat with
medium blue vinyl interior code 414. I have owner history back to 1972. I have
the warranty book/protecto plate and a part of the build sheet.

The frame was in excellent shape when we pulled the body off, but I had the body
sand blasted and powder coated satin black. All brake and fuel lines were
replaced with stainless steel. The clamps, bolts and brake junction blocks were
replaced with correct new pieces. All suspension pieces were sand blasted,
powder coated, then scuffed and painted the correct sheen of black. The rear
drive spindles and front hubs were sent to Van steel and new rotors riveted on like
they came from the factory. New brake backing plates with correct part numbers
stamped as original were installed. New original rubber bushings were installed on
A arms and trailing arms. The front and rear calipers are stainless steel sleaved
and machined areas of the calipers are not painted as original. The park brake
components were replaced with all stainless parts. The differential was completely
disassembled, Eaton carbon fiber clutch pack installed with heavier springs, and
resealed. The stamp numbers on the bottom of the differential are 1AT368W
(3:08 HD posi). All u-joints were replaced with brute force units. The steering
box, steering valve and cylinder were resealed, bearings replaced and detailed
back to factory specs and paint inspection marks. The power steering pump was
rebuilt and hoses replaced with new. The rear leaf spring was disassembled sand
blasted, primed as original, and new insulators installed. All parts were painted,
detailed, stenciled and paint inspection marks applied in correct locations. The
fuel tank is a new O.L. Anderson tank.

The wheels are all correct Kelsey Hayes 15X7 AG code rallys dated 4,23,1968.
They were sand blasted and black epoxy coated on the inside then correct lacquer
paint was applied to the outsides. New Goodyear super speedway white strip
tires were installed on the drive wheels and a original spare is on the spare.

The transmission was disassembled, new sycros and bearings installed and resealed.
A new zoom stock duty clutch was installed.

The original numbers matching engine block was bored out .040 over and correct
compression Trw forged pistons installed to restore the factory static compression
to 10.25 to 1. All parts are original to the engine including crank, heads, intake,
and oil pan . Stainless Manley race flow valves were install with bronze valve
guide liners. A new Comp cam, lifter and spring kit was installed (Duration
272/284, Lift .515/.510). The cam has the same duration as the factory cam with
more lift. The engine has very good vacuum and runs like stock. Comp Cams
roller tip rockers were used. A melling high volume oil pump as used and the
factory trap door oil pan seals up the bottom end. The factory intake and
Rochester quadrajet P/N 7028209 were restored. Crane Corvette valves covers
were used. They are the only correct valve covers with proper locations for wire
holders. The original distributor was restored and crane XR-I points conversion
module was installed. Correct braided dated coded wires were used. A correct
AC Delco coil lights the fire. All ignition shielding is new. All pulleys are original to
the car. The alternator is original to the car and was restored. The starter is also
the correct part number and dated coded. The water pump is also correct part
number and date code. Air injection came on all 68 and 69 corvette and this cars
is in very good condition. Exhaust is Corvette Central correct exhaust for this
year and engine combination. This car is very fast. The estimate horse power is
425. Under hard acceleration the wheel feel like they are close to lifting off the
ground and the steering gets light. It is a lot of fun.

The body was in good shape prior to starting the restoration so stress cracks were
filled and the body was painted; color sanded, shot with clear and block sanded
again. The paint is absolutely beautiful. The body was remounted with all new
mount bolts and shims. We recorded the shim count and thickness when we
removed the body. We installed the same number and thickness and taped them
on and marked the frame with a grease pencil as originally done at the factory.
New date coded glass was installed but I cracked the passenger side bottom
corner of the windshield. I havent got around to replacing it yet. All the stainless
was in good shape. The windshield header cast chrome pieces were rechromed
by Space Coast Plating in Melbourne. The bumpers, grill moldings, seat side
braces, and shifter lever was also rechromed by them. They do great work. The
steel bird cage is rust free and in excellent shape. The kick panel side vent doors
were disassembled, painted and new seals installed and re-riveted together. The
heater box was also completely rebuilt. New control cables for the kick panel
vents and the heater box controls were replaced with new. The heater control
face, dials and mechanism were replaced with new. A new correct reproduction
Harrison radiator was installed and the broadcast tag transferred from the original
radiator. The core support was sand blasted and powder coated satin black. All
new wiring harnesses were installed except the headlight harness. It was in
excellent shape. All the headlights are correct T3 lights. All side marker and
taillight lenses were replaced with new Trim Parts pieces. The top was installed
prior to the restoration but only shows slight wear. All new weather stripping was
installed throughout the car. New insulation was installed under the floor and
transmission tunnel and covered with the belly pans as installed on all big block cars.

New door panels were installed and I have the original ones as well. Also the
header and A pillar trim are new. The seats were disassembled, frames sand
blasted and powder coated, new foam and AL Knock seat covers installed. I
cleaned and restored the seat tracks. Heat insulation was installed under the front
and rear carpet and new carpet with heat insulation sewn into it was installed. I
know a little extreme but it stays much cooler now. The upper and lower dashes
are original to the car and were redied to match. The center gauges bezel was
restored and well and the shifter console. The speedo and tach were sent out and
calibrated, lubricated and repainted. The steering column was rebuilt and new
switch installed. New under dash and firewall insulation was installed. The top
was installed before the restoration but only show slight wear. Also included in
this auction is a hard top. I bought this to add to the car. The paint was done at
the same time as the car and matches perfectly. The stainless is in good shape
and all there. I have purchased new hardware, latches and weather stripping.
The headliner is not installed. In Florida if the weather is good you dont want a
top on it and I dont drive it in the rain, so I have not assembled it yet.

Also I have a set of 15X7 rally wheels with radial tires. They are not AG wheels
and the rear tires need replaced, but a nice change from the show wheels. I also
have a complete Magnaflow exhaust sold by Corvette Central that I will include
with the car. It sounds great. I have saved most of the original parts I remove
from the car and will pass them along. After spending 4 years to restore this
awesome car you would think I would just enjoy it, but like most gear heads I am
itching for another project. Please feel free to email any questions you may have.
